Delhi is more than just a city, and anyone who has lived here can vouch for that. There are many facts which are still unknown by the Delhite. Some of those facts include:
· According to the area, Delhi is the biggest city: Delhi is 1942 sq km which is 3x to 2nd largest city Bengaluru i.e. 741 sq km. many of Indians are confused with the fact that Mumbai is the largest city, but that is not true. Mumbai is around 600 sq km, but Mumbai metropolis is 5200 sq km in contrast to Delhi-NCR which is around 48000 sq km.
· Unity in Diversity: Delhi is the only city in India, where you can find people from all over regions of the country. It is also lucky to see different people from different region speaking their native languages such as Punjabi, Bengali, Gujarati, Marwari and many more.
· City structure: Delhi was destroyed and rebuilt seven times and was ruled by successive empires and dynasties.
· End of the fort: the last fort built in India was the Red Fort which is situated in Old Delhi. It was completed in 1647 when Shahjahan decided to shift the Mughal seat of power from Agra to Delhi
· Largest local marketplace: Delhi is an overly crowded place having the largest marketplace i.e. Azadpur, around 300 trucks of fruits and vegetable are sold here, comprising of above more than 3000 local vendors.
· Pollution check: Delhi has the highest number of registered cars in India, no doubt where the pollution is coming from.
· ‘Delhi’ derivation: Delhi is derived from the word “Dhillika” which had around 18 different sites of various kings and emperors that include Indraprastha, Lal Kot, Quila Rai Pithora, Siri, Jahanpanah, Ferozabad, Dinpanah, Tughlakabad, Delhi Sher Shahi, Shahjahanabad, etc.
· Mega infrastructure fact: 24 smart cities, 2 power plants, 6 airports, 23 industrial hubs, 2 ports and a six-lane expressway stretching 15,00 kilometers. After its completion, it will be the world’s largest infrastructural project. Starting from New Delhi and ending in Maharashtra, the Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor has been inspired by Japan’s Tokyo-Osaka industrial corridor.
· Free wi-fi spot: Delhi is in 5th position holding the title of free wifi zone. Connaught Place has free wifi zone over 80sq km.
